Long Drives=Short Moments

We do not remember days, we remember moments.

 Cesare Pavese

The most admirable things in life are usually the smallest and least valued. It’s because they do not provide any materialistic benefits and undertaken without any hidden intentions.Hence such experiences prove the most rewarding.

“There are places and moments in which one is so completely alone that one sees the world entire”.                  Jules Renard

Same thing happened today, when me and my family sat in a car and headed for nowhere.Aimlessly, we daunted onto the roads, there was soothing music, kids laughing and fighting in the back seat as usual.Infact, that was the most familiar ‘music to my ears’, which i can’t live without.Life is so HAPPENING with kids.

“In history, the moments during which reason and reconciliation prevail are short and fleeting”.
Stefan Zweig

Sometimes, while going the path of life, towards our needs, goals, dreams and all, we should divert to paths which take us nowhere. It’s because they give us pleasures, enjoyment, relaxation, which is required to replenish our strengths for moving back on our actual tracks in life.

“One doesn’t recognize the really important moments in one’s life until it’s too late”.
Agatha Christie

While we were heading on the road, suddenly, nature went ahead to play it’s part and added a dash of beauty to the landscape. It started to drizzle all of a sudden, and the wandering gypsies started dancing to the tune.Nature was extremely rewarding on the day to let poor worn out tired souls savor solace.

“I just got one last thing, I urge all of you, all of you, to enjoy your life, the precious moments you have. To spend each day with some laughter and some thought, to get you’re emotions going”.         Jim Valvano

Reminded me of the songs about rain, like Roxette’s “Watercolors in the rain”, Millie Jackson’s “I feel like walking in the rain”, Engelbert’s “Raindrops keep falling on my head”…. Nature had embraced us with it’s charisma…..

“Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones”.
Phillips Brooks

Next, kids wanted to make it a 10 on 10 with ice-cream.There’s no match for having ice-cream on a rainy day.Life begins to seem extraaa sweet! Our lives were filled with good memories, togetherness, enjoyment, peace, relaxation, and an escape from life’s schedules. It was just us, one happy family!

“There are moments when all anxiety and stated toil are becalmed in the infinite leisure and repose of nature”.            Henry David Thoreau

Life is never too dull, there are always options to brighten it up.We just need to squeeze in a few moments which act as lighthouses throughout our lives. My memory never recalls the big things in my life, it is the small things which i find trapped in my mind always, bringing joys to me when i need it!

“Life all comes down to a few moments. This is one of them”.         Charlie Sheen

If you are hunting hi and low for peace of mind, catch all those could-be moments which could become a saviour in despair, hovering over us just like a cloud on rainy days.A walk, a chat, a meal or good food like ice-cream or even as mere as popcorns and a mirinda (love the combo!), a long drive could remain forever in your memories, making you feel good about your life, and feeling good about having being blessed with such nice people who make up these memories.Even a second when you’re humming to a tune, whistling to yourself, or bathroom singing is your OWN moment, don’t let it slip away without giving you your share of contentment and accomplishment.

Taking time to smell the flowers, counting joys instead of hours, delighting in the simplest things……

Letting all your thoughts have wings, feeling peaceful deep inside, balancing both work and play, bearing all along the way…….
Moving towards a dream or goal, nurturing your own heart and soul, showing others that you care, finding beauty everywhere!

  1. Dear One, I love reading about your family life! Your obvious joy in your children brings joy to my heart too. Take care and keep in touch! Shaz. p.s. let me know if you liked the music video I sent you!

    • That’s because we all are mothers you know!We are blessed with extra share of love for kids and family.God is so kind, we have parents in this world to rely on!But we are also blessed, because once a woman is a mother, she is just a mother then, not a wife, not even a woman…ONLY a mother! That’s because she can sacrifice anything for them.
The video….too good!No words can describe how i felt when i heard and saw it.Hunger really is a curse, but we can break it, if we want to.We need to break the chains of selfishness first, it is hard but not impossible. When we are selfless only then our hearts can feel and sense of others.Thanx a ton Dear, will be looking forward to the two days you post 🙂

      • Do you know how happy you made me by saying what you said about being a Mother?!! Because that’s exactly how I feel too! Becoming a mother is in my very bones and fibre. It cannot be separated from my identity as a woman or a wife. It is ME. Hugs to you my wonderful friend! You inspire me in so many ways and here’s to the beautiful blessing of being a mother! May you and your dear family be always safe in His Hands and may your home be always full of laughter, light and from it flow goodness and kindness to those around. Have a wonderful day and my warmest hellos to your family! HUGS xx
